Hi, my name is Lidija! As you might guess from my first and last name, I am originally not from the United States. I moved to the U.S at a young age with my family from Bosnia. I went to high school in the Quad Cities, and then moved to Iowa City to go to the University of Iowa. I spent my childhood living in a small farm town and fell in love with the natural landscapes me and my friends would explore every day. Afternoons spent hunting for wild strawberries and mushrooms on the hillside would always invoke a feeling of gratitude inside of me that I feel everyone should experience. Those small moments of magic and wonder in my childhood motivate me to create those experiences for others.

Coming into college, I knew that I wanted to study Environmental Science, but my love for outdoor and science education grew when I was a junior in college. I volunteered for The Iowa City Science Booster Club regularly and realized how fun and rewarding teaching kids is! In my free time, I love to travel and visit national parks, garden, hike, kayak, read, and spend time with my family. I’m really excited to keep developing the Bur Oak Land Trust education programming and work with various community partners.
